Project Based Learning: Using Video for Social Change

Workshop overview

Are you looking for student-driven experiences for your students that help them amplify their voice and passion for positive social change? 

High Resolve's national Videos for Change challenge is a powerful opportunity for your students to create and be heard while leading social change.  Students from Years 7-12 are challenged to submit a one minute video on a social issue they feel passionate about, with the chance to be featured on Network TEN's The Project and receive a share of prizes worth over $10,000!

This workshop will provide you with the knowledge, skills and practical resources to help students create compelling videos that can raise awareness of a social issue that matters to them. Please note this is not a technical film-making workshop and is designed to assist you to enable your students to create a powerful video narrative without recourse to expensive film-making equipment.

The following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers will be covered in the workshop:

3.2.2   Plan and implement well-structured learning and teaching programs or lesson sequences that engage students and promote learning.

4.5.2   Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible use of ICT in learning and teaching. 

6.4.2   Participate in learning to update knowledge and practice targeted to professional needs and school and/or system priorities.

7.4.2   Participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden knowledge and improve practice.

A certificate will be provided on workshop completion confirming five hours of professional development in the teaching standards listed above. Completing Project Based Learning: Using Video for Social Change will contribute 5 hours of NESA registered PD addressing 3.2.2, 4.5.2, 6.4.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.



Fee per workshop is $290+GST. Lunch and morning tea will be provided during the workshop.

Please note that schools participating in paid High Resolves incursions are provided with complementary places at our Teacher Professional Development workshops. Therefore, teachers attending from these schools will not be charged.
