Videos for Change: Creating Compelling Videos for Positive Social Change

Workshop overview

Are you looking for student-driven experiences that will help them amplify their voice and passion for positive social change?

This professional development workshop for teachers will provide you with the knowledge, skills and practical resources to help students create compelling videos that drive positive social change. The content is based on our experiences of facilitating hundreds of student-led projects and our hugely successful Videos for Change competition run with the generous support of Network TEN and featured on award winning The Project. Please note this is not a technical film-making workshop and is designed to assist you to enable your students to create a powerful video narrative without recourse to expensive film-making equipment.

All participants will be provided a set of high quality, practical teaching resources for use in the classroom.

The following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers will be covered in the workshop:

3.2.2   Plan and implement well-structured learning and teaching programs or lesson sequences that engage students and promote learning.

4.5.2   Incorporate strategies to promote the safe, responsible use of ICT in learning and teaching. 

6.4.2   Participate in learning to update knowledge and practice targeted to professional needs and school and/or system priorities.

7.4.2   Participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden knowledge and improve practice.

A certificate will be provided on workshop completion confirming five hours of professional development in the teaching standards listed above. Completing Videos for Change: Creating Compelling Videos for Positive Social Change will contribute 5 hours of NESA registered PD addressing 3.2.2, 4.5.2, 6.4.2 and 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Lunch and morning tea will also be provided. Registrations will be charged at $290 (exclusive of GST) although schools running High Resolves student sessions will benefit from a number of free places.
