sydney summit 2009
The High Resolves NSW Summit 09 was held at the University of Sydney.
The students heard from Justin Baird (Chief Innovation Officer, Google) about technological innovations that are enabling large numbers of people to work together effectively; Nick Rowley (Director, Kinesis; environmental advisor who has worked closely with leaders in government on sustainability and climate change in Australia and the UK)
Mehrdad Baghai (Managing Director, Alchemy Growth Partners and Co-Founder, High Resolves) then spoke about collective action and Roya Baghai (Co-Founder, High Resolves and Managing Director, royadesign) described the exciting new developments in the High Resolves curriculum.
Students then broke up into their selected stream topics where they learnt about different global initiatives and issues such as human rights, gender equity, education or the environment. These sessions each had three guest panelists and a moderator that facilitated discussion with the panelists and the students.
After lunch, the Social Action Challenge 2009 participants (sponsored by Tenix) presented their projects to the audience and outstanding team achievements were recognised with awards.
The students then heard inspiring personal stories from the Anna Rose (Co Director, Australian Youth Climate Coalition) and Clary Castrission, (Founding Director and CEO, 40K Home) about their path to where they are now as young leaders making significant positive contribution to society.
The day closed with a moving presentation from Steve Langton (Global Managing Partner for Leadership Consulting, Heidrick & Struggles) where students were encouraged to think about their future and to initiate their own path of service and leadership.
