As Executive Director of Delivery at the NSW Department of Education, Liana works to improve outcomes for 800,000 children by strengthening the delivery of policies and services.
Previously, Liana taught leadership at NYU Wagner's Graduate School of Public Service and led Liana Downey & Associates, a strategic advisory firm with offices in New York, and Sydney, Australia. Clients included social enterprises, global nonprofits and leaders from federal, state and city governments. Liana also established and led the public sector practice at McKinsey & Company and was an Expert Advisor to the Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
Liana is the author of Mission Control: How Nonprofits and Governments Can Focus, Achieve More and Change the World (Taylor and Rutledge, 2016), hosted the Mission Control podcast and led the 1000 member social sector leadership network in the US.
She holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business (Arjay Miller Scholar).
